Looking for a great place to park for the Unicoi County Apple Festival in Erwin, TN on October 6th and 7th, 2017? Every year Unicoi County and the Town of Erwin welcomes over 100,000 people to one of the premiere festivals in the southeast. First Christian Church has two large parking lots about as close as you can get to the Unicoi County Apple Festival. It is also in an ideal location for those interested in attending the Blue Ridge Pottery Show at the National Guard Armory. We provide all day come and go parking for only $5 per day from 8am – 5pm. All parking from 5pm until the festival ends around 8pm is FREE for everyone.
The parking lots are run by youth and adult volunteers so that your car and its belongings will be safely monitored throughout the day. You will be close enough to your car to drop off purchases instead of carrying them through the huge crowds. Or if you just want to avoid the crowds to enjoy some food or music, we are less than a block from a large food court and music stage. All the money raised benefits local youth attending the Tennessee Christian Teen Convention in Gatlinburg, TN.
There are two good ways to get to us for the Unicoi County Apple Festival.
1. The simplest but most crowded way is to take Exit 37 (2nd Street) towards McDonalds and over the train tracks and towards downtown to Elm Avenue. Turn right on Elm Avenue and continue past Love Street, then turn right at either of the first two roads. Iona Street is the first right by the Erwin Utilities building but often crowded, so the next right at Catawba Street is recommended. Take either street 2 blocks to South Main Avenue and you will see entrances to the two First Christian Church parking lots. We typically fill the main lot by the Fellowship Hall first, then park remaining cars in the field. In the past 5 years we have never completely filled up both lots.
2. An alternate route that should be less crowded is to take Exit 40 (Jackson Love Highway) towards town. Soon after you pass the Nolichucky River bridge and go under the railroad bridge, turn left on to Carolina Avenue at the South Side Volunteer Fire Department and NFS Training Center. Continue on Carolina Avenue for about 1.5 miles then turn left at Catawba Street at the Care and Share building. Take Catawba Street about 4 blocks to South Main Avenue and turn right and you will see the First Christian Church parking lot.
